Introducing The Roving Folk: Handmade Wool Car Vent Clips for Everyday Roads

For many years, LanaCrocheting has been a place for handmade baby mobiles — tiny knitted and crocheted worlds created for nurseries, new babies and the earliest little moments of childhood.

I have always loved making pieces that feel personal. A Highland cow with a soft expression, a tiny daisy, a moon, a cloud, a little farm animal with character — each baby mobile begins as a small story made by hand.

But over time, I started thinking about where else those small handmade stories could live.

Not only in nurseries.
Not only above a cot.
But in the everyday places we return to again and again.

That is how The Roving Folk began.

The Roving Folk is my new collection of handmade wool car vent clips — tiny needle-felted characters designed to clip onto your car air vent and bring a little warmth, humour and personality to ordinary roads.

They are small wool passengers for daily drives, school runs, commutes, countryside journeys and quiet trips home. Each one has its own face, mood and little story. Some are funny, some are thoughtful, some are soft and simple, and each one is made to add a small handmade touch to your car.

Why Car Vent Clips?

I wanted to create something that felt useful, giftable and full of character — something handmade that could be enjoyed every day.

A baby mobile is a special piece for a very particular time: a nursery, a new baby, a thoughtful baby shower gift. But a car vent clip is something almost anyone can use. It is small, practical, easy to gift and easy to enjoy.

Most of us spend time in the car — driving to work, taking children to school, visiting family, going on little errands, or simply moving through the ordinary rhythm of the day. I loved the idea of creating a tiny handmade detail for that space: something soft, characterful and a little unexpected.
